Family, Friends, and Fun

January is a rough month in Utah.  The snow plus the cold plus the inversion makes it a difficult place to be at times.  So you have to plan gatherings, escapes, and excursions.  Recently we have had the kids' friends over for a movie and games night, gone to a Utes basketball game and women's gymnastic meet, and gathered with cousins, nieces, and nephews who live nearby.

Mat Franco Show in Vegas!

For one of Harrison's Christmas gifts this year, the whole family got tickets to see Mat Franco in Las Vegas.  Mat Franco is a magician who won America's Got Talent a couple years ago and now he has a resident show at the Linq in Vegas.  It was a fantastic show!  We drove down to Vegas this past weekend, stopped in St. George to visit my mom and grandpa (who has been very sick), and enjoyed the relatively warm and sunny weather (we even got to swim in the heated pools at our hotel!).

Making memories:

In other news, Harrison was one of a handful of 4th graders in his school to score high enough on testing to qualify for the Geography Bee.  He competed against 5th and 6th graders and did great!  Also, Harrison and Emme had Donuts with Dads recently.  It was cold and snowy outside but warm inside!  And last, Harrison was a fur trapper in his 4th Grade performance and he nailed his lines.  The songs were excellent too!

Happy 2017!

The end of 2016 and the beginning of 2017 were busy, busy.  After the Nikos left, Kumen, Holly, Little Mac, and Janie Lynn came and stayed a couple days with us.  Then Granny V came as Kumen's family left and rung in the New Year with us and some of the Calls (Clayton, his kids, Hannah, and her new husband, Jared).  Then Emme had a piano recital.  She did a great job.  Then Sophie turned 15!  All in a matter of a couple of weeks.  Oh, and it has been snowing like crazy here.
