Sophie's Gr8 Weekends!

Sophie turned 8 on January 4 and had a fun birthday party on January 8. We had several energetic girls at our house for pizza and then took them all to see "The Princess and the Frog" at the movies. Sophie got a new bike from us, which she really needed because the chain on her old bike kept coming off.
The weekend of January 15-16 provided more fun and special times for Sophie. First, on the night of the 15th, she got to go on a special Daddy Date to the Rockets game with Stephen and sit in a box seat, where she got to eat all the food and candy she wanted! Two of the Rockets cheerleaders came and visited the box and Sophie got to waive their pom-poms and pose for a picture with them.
Second, and much more importantly, Sophie was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Saturday morning, January 16, in front of many family and friends. It was a cold and cloudy day outside, and Stephen could not get the hot water to work in the baptismal font, so the water in the font was very cold!! Poor Sophie. She will certainly always remember her baptism. Her little lips were shivering, and they had to do it twice because she didn't go all the way under the first time. Despite the frigid water, the day was special. We had a family gathering at our house after the baptism to celebrate the first quarter birthdays throughout the extended family. Then, Stephen and I got to go to the Temple later that day, so we had ample helpings of the Spirit that day, which felt wonderful! Here are some more pictures from the baptism and family party:

We are so proud of Sophie. She is a great kid. Her teachers at school and church frequently say what a delight she is. We couldn't agree more!!

Yay for the date with Daddy...those are very special. Lots of great things to start off the year. You really are doing great in your calling. I know I haven't said it much, but I appreciate the work and effort you put into it. =-)
