Spring Break 2012

Last year, we sort of struck out in our Spring Break efforts. Our lemonade stand didn't go well. The rodeo was too crowded. And we weren't in our new house yet, so we couldn't swim. This year, the tables turned!

The kids sold out at their lemonade stand!

We hit the rodeo early and had fun. Harrison got to hold a baby pig, Sophie got to lead one of the pig racing teams, and everyone enjoyed the rides, the livestock, the carnie food, and the reasonably cool weather.

We also met Stephen downtown in the tunnels underneath his building where he works and had lunch. The kids think it is pretty cool to eat under ground at McDonald's or Subway and to see the various stores and offices contained in the underground tunnel system. Harrison still thinks that Stephen actually works underground for part of the day, even though he has been up to his office. He even told his preschool teachers that his dad works underground by a McDonald's. They were trying to figure out what Stephen did and asked me one day in a perplexed tone. When I explained, they finally got what Harrison was talking about. After that lunch, it was Sophie's turn for a daddy date, so she and Stephen hit the Chocolate Bar in Rice Village. Not pictured: a trip to the Museum of Natural Science (the Sugar Land branch), a cousin sleepover, and a day of swimming in crisp but refreshing water. Now get these kids back to school! I need a break to get ready for summer!!!
