Misc. Happenings

As we stride in our fall routine, here are some snapshots of miscellaneous happenings:

We do lots of homework every night in our house.  Even Harrison's kindergarten class has nightly homework!  (Sheesh, I think all we did when I was in kindergarten was finger paint and nap!)

I do 99.9% of the homework help with the kids, but occasionally a new drill sergeant has to step in and help get one of the kids over a hump.  In this case it was helping Bella get over a little writing block.

Problem solved!

Sometimes the best part of family home evening is just being together.  Harrison is not usually the cuddley type, but once in a while he will snuggle up with me.

Stephen and I are getting ready to run the Ten for Texas race again this year, and we have had to do some long runs in the heat and rain.  Here is Stephen before setting out for seven miles in the rain.

And here he is soaked from head to toe after his run.

Here I am after one of my long runs in the suffocating heat (outside of a couple of weak cool fronts, the temps in these parts are still hot and the air is still humid).  I am trying to cool off any way possible, sitting under the fan with ice cold water.  I promise I didn't run with the water in this strange position, but it helped cool me down afterwards.
It is the time of year where sports dominate the TV in our home, and we added a sports package to get SEC TV for more viewing of Aggie games.  It is free for 6 months, and we can cancel at any time, so it is a great deal!  And I found the deal and signed us up for the package, so Stephen has me to thank!

It is hard to capture the mundane details of life.  Big events, like vacations and birthdays, are easy to chronicle.  But playing Connect Four on a rainy Saturday morning usually doesn't bring out the camera.  Bella picked up the iPhone and took this shot.  Stephen was desperate to get out of his rain soaked running clothes and shower, but he grabbed a towel instead in response to the little ones' request for him to play games with them "riiiight noowwwah."  Millions of tiny moments like this, and the others above, are representative of our life.  Small and simple things . . .
