Summer Vacation Part 1 -- The Big Easy

We planned a fun and relatively quick getaway for a summer vacation this year so that we could get it in right after school let out and before moving.  We decided to take a road trip to Destin, Florida, with pit stops in New Orleans on the drive there and back.  We had a great time, especially in Destin!!

For the first leg of the trip, we drove to New Orleans and stayed overnight near Jackson Square.  New Orleans proper is definitely not the most family friendly environment, but we had fun at the IMAX, the Insectarium (where we got to eat an assortment of bugs!) and walking around historic Jackson Square (where we got to see a live wedding procession, led by a raucous jazz band).
