Summer Recap 2010

Well, failing to journal all summer requires one monster summary post. So here goes!

Zoo, Cousins, and Sleepovers -- My kids love the zoo! We have had season passes for years, and despite the heat and crowds, we ventured off to the zoo several times in the late spring and throughout the summer. We usually go an hour or two before closing to avoid the crowds and to lessen the heat a bit. Sometimes cousins and friends come with us. And a few times this summer, there were cousin sleepovers that produced crazy makeup sessions and fun hijinks!

Lost Pines and Aggieland -- This summer we took a few mini vacations in July and August. First, during the week of July 4, we went to College Station for a day and then headed up to the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort for three days. While at Lost Pines, we thoroughly enjoyed the water slide, lazy river, pools, s'mores and movies every night, room service, the animals and wildlife, and many more activities!!

San Luis Resort in Galveston for 50th -- Then for three days in August, we headed to the San Luis Resort in Galveston to celebrate Stephen's parents' 50th wedding anniversary. We had a nice banquet luncheon in their honor, played at the beach and at the resort's pool/water slide, went to the Aquarium at Moody Gardens, ate at the Rain Forest Cafe and rode the ride there, and enjoyed the sound of the ocean at night! My mom was a big life saver on the trip, helping with the kids, especially at night. You will notice matching shirts with numbers in some of the photos. Those, of course, are the commemorative shirts for the 5oth, and the numbers on the back represent the place in which the particular family member entered the Calvert clan.
