We have started the summer schedule and have done some fun activities!
| Bowling is always a summer staple in the hot and humid summer months. |
| Houston has good museums, and we went to one we had never been to before -- the Health and Science Museum. Here are the kids using a machine that measures brain activity. It is actually a game in which the person who is most relaxed wins. A little ball rolls toward that person after the headgear is in place. Bella kept winning! |
| We met Stephen near downtown for burgers at a Houston icon, Stanton's City Bites, which was recently featured on the Travel Channel. It is a converted convenience store in a dumpy part of town, but the burgers are very yummy. Try the Miss Piggy Burger if you go. |
| Kim Nguyen, one of Bella's teacher this past year, and Sophie's former teacher, dates the son of the founder of Stanton's. The founder passed away recently, but the family is rallying to keep the Stanton's tradition going, and Ms. Nguyen is part of the effort. She is working at the restaurant during the summer break and invited her students to come visit her there. She was excited to see that we took her up on her invitation! |
| Stanton's is a true hole in the wall. |
| Grandma V gets Fridays off in the summer, so she came along for the adventure. |
| Stephen surprised us and met us for lunch. He has been to Stanton's a few times over the years. |
| After lunch, we went to a dog shelter to look at some potential adoptees. The kids are trying to earn points for a dog this summer. |
